Kelly Chittenden, PhD

  • Clinical Assistant Professor of Medical Humanities

Kelly Chittenden is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medical Humanities at Baylor University. After attending Westmont College, she earned her PhD in English with a Certificate in Literature and Religion from Baylor in 2024. She has taught in the Medical Humanities Department since Fall 2024. 

In both her teaching and research, Dr. Chittenden explores the intersections of medicine, literature, and theology, with particular focus on the relationship between biblical and medical narratives. Her work has been published in journals such as Christianity & Literature and Victorians: A Journal of Culture and Literature. She also serves as the Faculty Advisor for Viriditas: The Soul of Medicine, the department's literature and arts magazine. 

Dr. Chittenden is grateful to be part of the Medical Humanities Department, where she is passionate about teaching and mentoring students and helping them develop into compassionate healthcare practitioners. She lives in Waco with her husband, Jacob.
